I have been featured in a local Columbus publishing company's online series titled '7 Works' which features, you guessed it, 7 works by an artist.  They are a group worth checking out so take a look at their site and see some of the things they are working on.

limited palette study

I always keep a very limited palette when starting a painting and when I am teaching lessons to students I encourage making paintings using a simple palette.  You can still achieve great results without being overwhelmed in this way.  This painting I did as an example using only burnt sienna, ultramarine blue and titanium white.

 I have put up 10 new paintings at Flora Home and Garden with a winter theme for the season.  They are a mix of contemporary and historic scenes mainly from the Columbus area.

I went to my first polo match this fall and have started a few new works.  I have been making a bunch of studies like these and will have some more developed work coming soon.

First paintings from Monhegan

The first of many paintings that will be coming from my visit to Monhegan Island in Maine.  One is oil and the other watercolor and acrylic.  Two different styles, but it has been fun playing with these different techniques for different subjects.

Maine and Rigsby's

New painting of old high street

Many, but not all, of my paintings of High Street have the iconic arches but most are not actually from the Short North in Columbus.  Back around the turn of the century these arches were put up on high street through what is now down town as well.  I have many people asking me about this so I thought to add a short note on it.

Christina's World

While on a trip up to Maine in May, I was able to visit the Olson house, Made famous by Andrew Wyeth's paintings and drawings.  The most well known of these is 'Christina's World'.  It was an inspiring place for an artist to visit and I would recommend this place to any Wyeth fan.  Being in and around the house was like walking into his work.  You can really get a sense of how his work was formed from each space.  I added a couple images of his paintings so you can see the inspiration.
